Parking in Hanover is convenient and easy! Whether you are visiting for a short trip or a longer stay - permits, meters, and app access are all available.
The Parking Division of the Hanover Police Department oversees parking in Hanover and enforces the Town Parking Ordinance. The Parking Office is located in Town Hall just off the first floor at the back of the building, where staff accept payments, answer questions, and process ticket payments. Parking accepts payments in several forms, including cash, check, and credit card.
There are over 600 metered parking spaces in Hanover, mostly offering two or three hour parking to customers and visitors of the Central Business District. Current meter rates are posted on each meter, and can also be found here. Meters must be paid from Monday through Saturday, 9AM to 5PM, unless it is a public holiday.
Hanover manages parking in a 289-space garage located at 7 Lebanon Street, available for both short and long-term parking. The facility is open 24/7 with cashiers on duty from 7am to 9pm, Monday through Friday. Local merchants may offer validation. The parking Garage is FREE on Saturdays and Sundays. The covered sections of the facility are available for use during the winter parking ban.
Leased and Permit Parking
Employees of Downtown businesses can park in a long-term metered lot off Maple Street, purchase permits for long-term parking in non-metered spaces, or apply for a free permit to park at Thompson Arena. Please see the section on Leased and Permit Parking for more information.
Please note that unpaid tickets continue to accrue late fees. A balance of more than $90 may subject a vehicle to immobilization and could lead to a court summons.
Online Payment / Online Appeal
To pay or appeal a ticket Online go to the portal at parking.hanovernh.org. You will need to know your license plate number and your ticket number. If you do not have this information please call or email the Parking Division.
Pay by Check
Please make checks payable to "Town of Hanover". You can drop off payment at Town Hall or mail it to Hanover Parking Division at PO Box 483, Hanover NH 03755.
Pay by Cash
You can pay by cash in person only at the Parking Office in Town Hall during our normal business hours.
Appeal in Person
Please visit the Hanover Parking Division to appeal a ticket in person. You may also mail a copy of your ticket along with an explanatory letter.
Revenue generated through parking-related activities flows into a separate Parking Fund that is overseen by the Parking and Transportation Board and the Board of Selectmen. Funds are used to support on-street and parking garage operations, maintenance of parking areas, the Advance Transit shuttle service for commuters, and future improvements to the parking system.
There are over 600 parking meters in Hanover, mostly offering two or three-hour parking to customers and visitors of the Central Business District. Downtown employees can park in a large long-term metered lot (Marshall Lot) conveniently located on Maple Street, in one of eighty long-term non-metered public permit spaces situated on the periphery of the Business District or for free in Thompson Arena. Related permits are available at the parking office in Town Hall.
Parking operations also manages parking in the 289-space garage at 7 Lebanon Street, where both short-term and long-term parking is available for customers. The facility is open 24 / 7, with cashiers on duty between 7 am and 9 pm Monday-Friday. A validation program is in effect where merchants may purchase stickers at the parking office to then distribute to their customers who park in the facility. The covered sections of the facility are a good option for overnight parking during the winter parking ban. The parking ban is in effect from November 15 through April 30 each year, between the hours of 12:01 am to 7 am.
