    This less intense version of our Senior Strength and Stretch (SSS) will include chair yoga, gentle strength training, and balance exercise all done seated or standing, no getting on the floor. This class is ideal for seniors with severe arthritis or other chronic medical issues that limit movement. Increased strength, balance, flexibility and coordination are expected benefits. All equipment provided. Begins Tuesday, January 6. Jackie Schanlaber is the instructor.

    Line dancing is great fun while you improve memory skills, strengthen bones, develop better balance, relieve stress, and put a smile on your face. Each dance is broken down first, demonstrated and then danced to contemporary music that you will enjoy! No need to have a partner, it is something for everyone and no experience is necessary! Instructor: Jamie Orr has been teaching dance for over 30 years. Most of his early training was in Los Angeles while he competed throughout the Western US. He formerly taught in Aspen, CO before returning home to the Valley in 1995.

    Resistance bands and small hand weights are tools to make friends with as we age, and this class will make you comfortable with both. We will challenge our upper and lower body as well as core muscles with our own body weight, a chair, and the tools we mentioned above. Equipment supplied by the rec center or bring your own. Please bring a mat if you have one.
