The EPA, in the interest of ensuring everyone receives safe, clean, potable water, has revised its Lead & Copper Rule. As part of this rule, all public utilities, including the Town of Hanover, are required to identify the water service line material to every service connection that enters homes and businesses.
The Town of Hanover is reaching out to residents to send in their information with regards to their water service lines or to schedule an appointment for the Town to inspect the lines. The Town needs to identify the water pipe material entering all houses and businesses. They will be knocking on doors to see if anyone is home so they can enter and identify materials. The water dept. personnel will have a Town ID badge on them in order to identify themselves to residents. If no one is home, they will place a notice on the door that explains what the Town needs for information. If you get a notice, you can follow its instructions to either inspect the line yourself or schedule an inspection. Thank you for participation in this mandatory information gathering that needs to be provided to EPA.
