Volunteers Needed for Hanover/Norwich Window Insert Community Build
September 28 to October 4, 2023
Morning, afternoon, evening and weekend hours
Great opportunity to help others seeking to reduce energy waste!
Got a few hours for a fun volunteer experience? Please consider volunteering in a barn-raising style community build to make window inserts to help households with leaky, drafty windows lower their heating costs and reduce energy waste. Sign up to see times and possibilities here.
This window insulation project is sponsored by Sustainable Hanover in partnership with the Norwich Energy Committee. It will take place at the Norwich Congregational Church from September 28 to October 4. Volunteers will transform pre-measured wood sets provided by the Maine nonprofit organization Window Dressers into 250 attractive custom-fitting interior storm windows. About a third of the inserts will be subsidized for families needing energy assistance.
Last year 80 volunteers contributed to a successful 2022 build. They assembled frames, applied plastic and foam sealing, contributed wonderful homemade soups for the communal lunches, and staffed the event in many other helpful ways. All the work is done using ingenuously designed “jigs” from Window Dressers. No prior wood working experience is required!
Please join us for a fun and rewarding time. Volunteer options are available on morning, afternoon, evening shifts. Read more about the project and join us at the build!
